refreshments.
We all look forward to our weekends off. It can be challenging though
to shift gears from a hectic week and settle into a relaxed pace for those less structured
days. Come, give yourself this time to center and ground yourself - to begin your
weekend fresh and open, ready to embrace the opportunities the weekend presents.
The session will begin with basic gentle poses to warm up the spine and proceed into
a restorative practice. In restorative yoga we set the body up in completely
supported postures, settle in and allow the body to rest. You'll also practice
gentle guided breathing and meditation. These practices are deeply nourishing for
the nervous system. You'll leave feeling refreshed and restored.

Session Intensive
Sundays, February 26 and April 22, 1:30 – 4:30pm,
$40 per session
Here’s an opportunity for you to see what your body could really do when properly warmed up and prepared for a pose! You will surprise yourself! In this three-hour intensive you will work with the theme and focus pose of the 8-week session. With three hours we will dive deeply into all of the aspects of the pose and completely prepare your body to move as deeply as possible into the focus pose. Rather than focusing on just one aspect of the pose as we do of necessity with only 1-1/4 hour class, we will explore all aspects of what it will take to move your body into the particular asana. You will know more completely what exactly it is that stands in your way and very likely find that it is less of an obstacle when you’ve had more time to prepare your body. Be prepared to be amazed. Really!
Prerequisites: Please be registered into the current series to
attend the intensive or call to make a request to attend.

Put your Best Foot Forward, yoga tools for cultivating
positive self esteem
March 5 through April 9, 2012, $125
Many of us are our own worst enemies. We would never say the
things to anyone else that we say to ourselves. This habit can sap our vitality,
block our creativity and sabotage our best efforts to live a good and happy life.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated
through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this
expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other
medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to
determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other
expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the
channel open . . . ” ~ Martha Graham
Much impact has been made in the treatment of chronic pain, addiction and emotional
stress with the training and use of mindfulness practices. In this 5-week series
you will practice Somatic movement, meditation, yoga postures and breathing. These
techniques will help you to become more aware, more present to these negative
thought patterns. As awareness increases so does your ability to choose. Which of
these thoughts serve you? Which do you wish to keep and foster? In a safe and
accepting environment, you will learn a yogic understanding of this very human habit
as well as tools to address it. You will also acquire the skills of mindfulness and
practice compassion toward those parts you find most difficult to accept, giving you
the freedom to explore the unique gifts you have to offer.
Commitment to a daily meditation practice as well as reading assignments from Cheri
Huber’s, "There is Nothing Wrong with You" will be required.
Previous yoga or meditation experience is not necessary to participate in this
workshop.
